I was going for an "jeans ad" look. You know, the sort of clothing ad where everyone is standing around in some weird pose and they don't say much about the jeans, but you're just supposed to sort of guess what the commercial is about. Appearing at the ConFurence art show. (Oh, it's a red fox, a swift-fennec mix, and a grey fox. Done in markers, gouache and colored pencils. And it only has a few quasi-native trinkets.)

Commission: Hurtful by Spirit Creations

Commission for Reggie Speakman of his character, Hurtful, walking around the streets in the dead of a cold night. I absolutely *loved* doing this commission and had a blast painting it! I especially loved painting the snow and it was great capturing this character. I also must admit, Cowboy Bebop totally inspired this piece (snow instead of rain), so I listened to the OST over and over while painting this. :) Can you find the scene that inspired this piece? :) Hurtful © Reggie Speakman 2008 Art © S. FCG (Feline Cow-Girl) Concept by Boneitis

After watching the amazing "Afro Samurai" I felt it very necessary to try some similar outfit designs on my own creations. Since it was a fairly new idea I pulled out my poor guinea cat Sei and set to designing her that same sort of Eastern design meets western folklore outfit. Here's the result, also of note are some more experiments with shading that nobody but me will notice. No background because this image took forever due to all the new stuff I was trying out. Edit: Forgot to shade the inner ear. D'oh!

My first try at doing multiple characters in a piece, they look nice but overall the piece is a tad dull. I think the younger one will work out well in another piece, and the guy with the funny hat will definitely be back. We'll see.

the finished version. for now anyway. I never got around to tightening up parts of the lineart and the stripes, I was too busy wrestling with the textures and shadows. I think its successful overall, I hope Tiber likes it. I tried some new things with it, some worked and some didn't. At any rate I've worn my self out on this cause I spent so much time experimenting, so I'm gonna call it done. Tiber is copyright her owner, Tiber (obviously), so no touchy!!
